Let’s face it, most of the popular long weekend destinations are “been-there, done-that” for many of us Singaporeans. There are only so many times one can do a bender in Bali or bar-hopping in Bangkok. Yet, other bucket list items like say, chasing the Northern Lights, can be hard to do with just four days to spare.
Which is why everyone should look to Incredible India as the newest cool destination for short trips! And although we are plenty of reasons why, here are our top five:
When you only have 3D/2N to spare (in travel lingo, this is “three days, two nights”) you don’t want to waste too much time on getting there. India offers many destinations that are no longer than a 4 hour plane ride – similar to a jaunt up to Hong Kong or Taiwan but arguably more exotic for the likes of those of us who don’t have our hometown or family there (or travel there for business).
Most flight timings are pretty well-suited for long weekenders too, with flight timings for an early arrival to and a late departure from the destination.
Unlike say, the Maldives – which is similarly about four hours away from Singapore – India is much kinder on the pocket. Yet, it offers no less in terms of luxury experiences if you’re looking for beautiful stays (Think glamping! Or historical forts!) and beaches. Good food and exotic experiences (like Bengal Tiger Safaris) also tick the boxes of any wandering spirit.
Be it Scoot or SilkAir, you’ll find a lot of options for airfare and flight timings for various cities in India! Some of our favourites for long weekend trips are Jaipur, Rajasthan, Kerala and of course Delhi. They’re all direct flights and make the perfect base to start your immersion in India – and trust us, you will want to come back, especially if you book a trip with Ravishing India Holidays *wink*
Whether you’re a young couple that wants good food and nightlife, a culture vulture or a family of four with young kids, you’ll easily find something in India to fall in love with. Follow the classic Golden Triangle trail that includes the bucket-list worthy Taj Mahal for example (can you imagine the IG pics?) or a fun safari that will delight both young and old!
Like shopping? You’ll be spoilt for choice for rich silk sarees, wraps, gemstones, pottery, spices and plenty more that you’d want to take home from marketplaces, boutique stores or little-known artisans.
Wanna stand out from the hordes of other holidaymakers in more predictable locales? Then India is definitely a strong candidate to check out. From its venerable forts and palaces to colourful street markets and wildlife, your selfies and IG posts will be the envy of many!
