Jaisalmer is located at the heart of the Thar Desert. Its lavish title was bestowed because of the its signature yellow sandstone architecture that reflects the breathtaking orange glow of the sunset each day. The town’s skyline is recognised by the impressive Jaisalmer Fort which is known as the number one must-see for travellers. Head there early to avoid the crowds and enjoy the gorgeous sunrise!
Jaisalmer has a flourishing Jain community which has made it the home to Rajasthan’s most beautiful Jain temples. Visit the Jaisalmer Fort to immerse yourself in the city’s most sought-after temple complex. The Jain Temple at the Jaisalmer fort is open from early morning until 12 noon so make sure you get lots of rest the night before! Travellers are encouraged to take a rickshaw up the fort to take in the Dilwara architecture of the temple. As with most religious sites, do make sure you are dressed appropriately.
Endowed with velvety sun dunes, Jaisalmer is the perfect destination for glamping adventures and exotic camel rides. We’re sure you’ll get the perfect photo opportunity on the golden sands of Jaisalmer.
One of our favourite glamping sites is the Manvar Desert Camp and Resort. The resort’s tents are equipped with comfortable utilities like air-conditioning and heaters as well as hot showers. The camp also offers scrumptious meals throughout the day and cultural performances by the fire in the evening. There are tons of desert activities like camel and jeep rides for couples and families to enjoy!
