Who doesn’t love a Bollywood movie? With their flair, huge productions and dancing, there’s bound to be one that you’d like. We’ve compiled our top Bollywood favourites for you but hey, it’s not always about the glitz and glam. We’ve got movies that would have you thinking about the impact of real people and their change on Indian society.
1. 3 Idiots (2009)
The movie that transformed much of India’s perspectives on education, 3 Idiots has been a perennial favourite. The film follows 3 friends who go through college facing multiple challenges from teachers, peers and parents while they try to follow their dreams.
2. Sholay (1975)
Arguably the film that sealed India’s love for Amitabh Bachan, Sholay is a classic in India. The film follows an unlikely friendship while taking revenge. Ravishing India Holidays loved this film so much that we’ve based a whole tour concept on this! (Check out ZoomZ)
3. Dangal (2016)
Aamir Khan’s brainchild, Dangal is a courageous film based on a true story of 2 girls from a village who become pro women wrestlers trained by their strict father. We love this movie for its values and for pressing the envelope surrounding women’s rights as well as what women can do in India.
4. Om Shanti Om (2007)
Which other movie can encapsulate Bollywood like Om Shanti Om? Filled with every possible strength that the industry can lend, the comedy is a testament to what Bollywood and its actors can offer the world when 2 of its biggest names collide.
