It is a well-known fact that India is a country with a hot climate. This is mostly true, but depending on which part of India you go to (and when), you can be greeted with the cold, hot, rainy or humid weather. So naturally, you may be wondering what essentials to carry with you to such a country. Fret not because we have compiled a simple and generalised “India Holiday Starter Pack” for those of you who are planning to visit the country.
Other than to protect you from the heat and various insects, this is a must if you want to visit culture and heritage sites in India. Most temples will require you to cover up, so it is best to be prepared. We recommend tops that cover at least your elbows and bottoms that cover your ankles.
Anti-Sun Pack includes:
If you’re visiting in the summer and going to a region with hot weather (such as certain northwestern and southern parts), you should never forget to pack these items. Even if it isn’t hot, you should still carry these items — better to be safe than sorry, eh?
You don’t necessarily have to pack this with you, but you should ensure that you always buy bottled water when you’re in India because tap water there is not potable. Also, try to avoid buying sweet drinks from the streets or drinks with ice in them as they may be tap water. You wouldn’t want to risk ruining your holiday with a bad tummy ache now, would you?
This is especially important if you wish to go for Safari tours or the tropical wet areas in India. Mosquito (or other insect) bites are not a pretty sight, nor a pretty feeling. Always take precautionary measures to prevent them. We recommend the mosquito patches because the mosquito sprays or lotions may make you feel uncomfortable in the hot and humid weather.
